DSP Award Recipient - Lauren Edsall

The Portage County Board of Developmental Disabilities is proud to recognize Lauren Edsall as the Portage DD Direct Support Professional (DSP) Award Recipient for November.  Lauren works for Leeda Northeast and was nominated by Denise and Teddy Carlson.

Here is what Denise had to say about Lauren:

This Provider works at Leeda Day Hab. My son was under her care when he went there. She taught him many skills: Work skills. social skills, emotional skills, But, these are not the reasons why I am nominating her. I want to nominate her for going above and beyond expectations. Leeda has been going through so many transitions this past year but Lauren has maintained consistency, reliability and creativity to best serve the clients. She makes every client feel special and advocates for them. She plans fun activities that engage the clients without them realizing they are gaining new skills every day. Under her care I have seen so much growth in not only Teddy but the other clients when I would visit the consignment store. Lauren is an amazing individual and is such a hard worker. She has worked so hard and it would be great if she is recognized with this award. I am so excited to watch her professional growth with this wonderful field.   Teddy added that Lauren helped him learn skills which helped him to get a job at Deluxe.

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) of the Month Award is for those staff who provide direct support or direct services for individuals served throughout Portage County.

This award is an opportunity to nominate someone who has gone above and beyond to improve the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities, while also promoting independence and inclusion.

Individual award recipients will receive public recognition from Portage DD and will be promoted on our social media channels. Award recipients will also later be considered for Direct Support Professional of the Year.

All nominations will be kept on file for review and consideration for a period of 12 months after initial submission.
