The Portage County Board of Developmental Disabilities is proud to recognize Faith Scarlett as the Portage DD Direct Support Professional (DSP) Award Recipient for the month of May. She was nominated by Meryl Hornyak. Faith works for Portage Industries, Inc.
Here is what Meryl had to say about Faith:
Months ago, I met with Faith to create a plan to support a client in the workplace. This plan was to further develop the client’s skills related to mental health symptoms. Faith was asked to guide the client to complete a new task each day to disrupt routine with positive experiences. She went above and beyond to frequently engage the client in various activities/responsibilities and encourage them with praise. Faith even brought items from her home to assist the client to feel comfortable in their communication style. The client has demonstrated progress in areas of confidence and flexibility, in part to Faith’s dedication to supporting her workers.
This award is an opportunity to nominate someone who has gone above and beyond to improve the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities while also promoting independence and inclusion.
Individual award recipients will receive public recognition from Portage DD and be promoted on our social media channels. Award recipients will also later be considered for Direct Support Professional of the Year.
All nominations will be kept on file for review and consideration for a period of 12 months after initial submission.
