The Portage County Board of Developmental Disabilities is proud to recognize Jaedyn Hirst as a Portage DD Direct Support Professional (DSP) Award Recipient. Jaedyn was nominated by two people, Ashley, and SSA Sarah Dye. Jaedyn works for The Arc of Ohio.
Here is what Sarah had to say about Jaedyn:
Jaedyn consistently demonstrates an exceptional level of dedication and compassion in the support she provides Ashley. She goes above and beyond to ensure that Ashley is given meaningful opportunities to live a full and enriched life. Through creativity and thoughtful planning, Jaedyn has supported Ashley in participating in a wide range of purposeful activities, including volunteering at Kent State University with Flashes Fighting for Hunger and helping peers at Portage Industries’ Christmas Shop. Jaedyn has also encouraged active engagement in the community through events such as Potter’s Fest and Vintage Fest, as well as promoting physical wellness through workouts at Planet Fitness and exercise at local parks.
In addition to supporting meaningful community involvement, Jaedyn has consistently demonstrated a commitment to helping Ashley develop essential independent living skills that promote confidence and independence. She has patiently guided her in learning how to grocery shop, prepare meals, do laundry, and manage daily living tasks with increasing independence. Jaedyn approaches her work with the utmost respect, dignity, and professionalism, consistently empowering Ashley to build confidence and independence. Jaedyn’s commitment, compassion, and genuine care have had a thoughtful and positive impact on Ashley’s quality of life. She is a true advocate and an outstanding example of person-centered support. Ashley added that Jaedyn should be considered for DSP of the Month because she loves her so much.
