Message From The Superintendent - October 2025
Greetings!
We hope everyone is doing well.
We want to thank everyone who attended the Portage DD Celebration on September 11. We appreciate all of you and the wonderful staff here at Portage DD!!
Portage DD was nominated in the Health Initiative category for two different things for Celebrate Portage County. One is a smart home, and the other is for a medical clinic that Colleen Brown set up for our Special Olympics athletes earlier this year. Congrats to everyone involved. We won the award for our smart home. It is there to help individuals and families understand what is available, making things more accessible and independent for those with developmental disabilities. Congrats to our fantastic staff.
We have several events happening in October. On October 9, we held the NDEAM luncheon, where we honored employers that employ individuals with Developmental Disabilities and individuals who work in the community. This event will be at Parkside.
On October 10, we held the 2nd Family Fun Day (Early Intervention) at our pavilion in the Happy Day Services building. This was from 10:00 to 12:00 for parents to learn about resources for kids aged 0 to 3.
We have our annual Trunk or Treat scheduled from 5-7 on October 24 at the Happy Day Services building. All are welcome.
Kim Holbert has been an account Clerk here at Portage DD for the last 26 years. She has retired, and her last day was September 30, 2025. She has been an invaluable asset to everyone here at Portage DD and will be greatly missed—best of luck to Kim. We were truly fortunate to work with her! Believe in People!
WE ARE HERE FOR YOU.
Sincerely,
John Vennetti
